Tell us about the Rotary Club of Battersea Park
I am a Trustee with Rotary International, but subgroup Rotary Club of Battersea Park works in local area, I became a member 10 years ago and became a Trustee 2 years ago.
I wanted to support the Rotary Club because of the Humanitarian work they do around the world and particularly in Battersea, through organising Rotary Christmas Day for elderly who are alone on Christmas, for the last 60 years.
What value have you been able to add to Rotary Club of Battersea Park with your personal and professional experience?
I was chosen to be a Trustee because of my business experience and my work with charities. I was happy to help this organisation achieve its goals in local community. I became the Coordinator of their flagship project Rotary Christmas Day.
Any new experience adds to personal as well as to business development. It exposed me to work with local residents, students (volunteers), business people, charities and with VIPs.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone thinking about becoming a trustee what would it be?
You cannot force people to volunteer. They have to decide by themselves if they would like to improve the lives of other people by giving their time and expertise.
